WHAT: Rivers Casino Portsmouth will host its grand opening celebration and ribbon-cutting ceremony on Monday, Jan. 23, 2023, at 10:00 a.m.— making history as the Commonwealth of Virginia’s first full-service permanent casino. The event will kick off with a special performance by Norfolk State University’s “Spartan Legion” Marching Band.

All previously announced restaurants and amenities will open, including BetRivers Sportsbook, Admiral’s Steak & Seafood for high-end dining (open Thursday through Sunday only); casual fare at Crossings Café, Mian, Slice Pizzeria, and Starbucks; with additional live and virtual entertainment at The Sound Bar and Topgolf Swing Suite, respectively. Opening later this year, Yard House — recently added to the restaurant lineup — will feature the world’s largest selection of draft beer.

The ribbon-cutting ceremony will begin at 10:00 a.m. and doors will open to the public immediately following.
